Abdul Hameed Al Qaed is a distinguished Bahraini poet, novelist, writer, and translator with a rich literary career spanning decades. His work reflects deep cultural insight, creative expression, and a strong contribution to both Arabic and bilingual literature.

He began his literary career with his first poetry collection, “Lover at Time of Thirst”, marking the start of a long-standing presence in the literary scene.

In 2003, he published “Noise of Whisper”, a bilingual poetry collection translated by himself. This work received First Prize in the “Distinguished Book” Competition, organized annually by the Ministry of Information in Bahrain.

In 2007, he published “Pearl, Dreams of Shell – Anthology of Bahrain Contemporary Poetry” in the United States. This work features poetry from 29 Bahraini poets, compiled and translated by him, and is distributed internationally, including in the USA and the UK.

His third poetry collection, “Alienation of Violets” (2010), is also a bilingual work (Arabic/English), further highlighting his expertise in literary translation.

He continued his literary contributions with:

  • “Nothing Matters Anymore” (2015)
  • “Drizzles of Amazement” (2023)

Abdul Hameed Al Qaed has authored several novels, including:

  • Love Has Ashes (2016)
  • Path of Spider (2019)
  • Love at Time of Corona (2021)
  • Rendezvous in the Land of Greys (2024)

His upcoming novel, “The End Does Not Come the Way We Desire”, is expected to further enrich his literary portfolio.

He published his first short story collection:

  • “Time Came to a Halt Here” (2021)

His second collection, “And the Deaths Return”, will be released soon.

Beyond his original works, Abdul Hameed Al Qaed has made significant contributions to translation and cultural exchange:

  • Translated numerous English and American poems, essays, and short stories into Arabic
  • Translated the renowned “Van Gogh Letters” into Arabic
  • Translated the novel “Nooran” by the late Bahraini writer Farid Ramadan, in collaboration with artist Jamal Abdul Rahim

His writings have been widely published in Arabic newspapers, magazines, and literary periodicals. He has also actively participated in poetry recitals and literary events both in Bahrain and internationally.
